The company unveiled a Claude Tag update for its Slack agent that gives the model the ability to read full conversation histories and decide when to contribute to discussions unprompted. Scott White, Anthropic's head of product for enterprise, told VentureBeat that the core bottleneck in enterprise AI adoption isn't model capability but rather the reality that most people still interact with AI in isolation.
This represents a philosophical departure from the chatbot model that has dominated AI consumer products. Rather than users initiating queries with Claude, the new approach positions Claude as an ambient team member that monitors ongoing work and surfaces insights or actions when relevant. The Tag feature lets teams designate when Claude should pay attention to specific discussions by tagging it directly, but the system can also operate with broader awareness of organizational context.
The Slack integration serves as the primary testbed for this multiplayer AI concept.
