Perplexity has launched Teammates, an always-on AI agent that handles work tasks on its own. Perplexity Computer runs one-off assignments. Teammates stay active and work through ongoing projects independently.

Each Teammate runs on its own virtual machine with a desktop and browser. Users track progress through dedicated threads in the Perplexity app. They can also interact with the agents through Slack.

The report says Perplexity joins SpaceX, Meta, OpenAI, and Anthropic, which already offer similar agents. It names these products: Grok Bots from SpaceX, Muse from Meta, Dots from OpenAI, and Duet from Anthropic. The report does not state which company owns each product, so treat those pairings as unconfirmed.

Teammates require the Max plan at $200 per month. Dots start at $100 per month, and Duet is available from $20. The report says the cheaper options will likely hit usage limits quickly. It also says that high agent consumption recently led SpaceX to impose stricter usage caps on Grok Bots.

According to the report, Perplexity's annualized revenue topped $750 million as of August.
