Runware, an AI infrastructure company, plans to build a factory that assembles its modular data center pods on a production line, according to an interview with TechCrunch. The company already sells the Sonic Inference Pod, a data center built in a factory and shipped to customers ready to install.
Co-founder and CEO Flaviu Radulescu told TechCrunch that Runware plans to scale production at its Romania-based factory to 30 megawatts of data center capacity per day by 2028, or nearly 1 gigawatt per month. Radulescu said production will gradually increase starting next year. The company says it already has two factories. One has been used for a few years to build the pods. The second started construction earlier this year and is expected to be finished within months and go online early next year.
Radulescu said Runware aims to bring a pod online within 48 hours. That figure covers installation and setup, not build time. He said a pod once took three weeks to build and will soon take one day as production ramps up. Customers can supply their own site or have Runware find one. Customers can rent compute from Runware or supply their own GPUs and pay a monthly fee for the pods and operations. Power and internet are charged separately.
Crusoe and Schneider Electric also sell prefabricated pods. Runware
