Open source AI models like Llama, Mistral, and others let developers build systems without depending on proprietary platforms. Organizations gain control over their data, can modify models for specific needs, and avoid licensing fees. This democratization reduces the barrier to AI adoption. A startup can now deploy capable AI without paying OpenAI's API costs or accepting their usage restrictions.
